Adularescence comes from light interacting with fine internal feldspar layers or intergrowths. It appears to float or move as the stone changes angle.
Is rainbow moonstone the same material as traditional moonstone?
Retail rainbow moonstone is commonly a transparent variety of labradorite with multicolor labradorescence, while traditional moonstone is a different feldspar intergrowth. Responsible listings should name the material accurately.
Is clearer moonstone always better?
