Moonstone is feldspar valued for adularescence, a floating blue or white glow created by internal structure. Body color, transparency, inclusions, cut, and the position of the glow vary from one stone to another.
Not every white or blue-glowing stone is moonstone. Use exact-piece photographs, material disclosure, and multiple viewing angles rather than color alone.

What creates the glow in moonstone?
Adularescence comes from light interacting with fine internal feldspar layers or intergrowths. It appears to float or move as the stone changes angle.
Is rainbow moonstone the same material as traditional moonstone?
Retail rainbow moonstone is commonly a transparent variety of labradorite with multicolor labradorescence, while traditional moonstone is a different feldspar intergrowth. Responsible listings should name the material accurately.
Is clearer moonstone always better?
No. Transparency, body color, glow, cut, inclusions, size, and personal preference all affect selection; there is no single rule for every design.
