Selenite vs Satin Spar: How to Tell Them Apart

A white wand can be sold as Selenite and still show the parallel fibers and silky surface associated with Satin Spar. The familiar label does not automatically make the material fake. The useful distinction is that Selenite and Satin Spar are two crystal habits of the same mineral, Gypsum.
