The Rustic Beauty of Oxidized & Patina Jewelry

Embrace the beauty of imperfection and time.

Our Oxidized Silver & Patina Brass collection is an exercise in honoring the natural aging process. We accelerate what would take decades — darkening silver, patinating brass, building verdigris on raw copper — to create pieces with grounded, lived-in character. The opposite of mass-produced high-shine accessories. Each finish evolves over time with your personal body chemistry and environment.

Oxidized Metal — Quick Facts
Oxidized silver: Sterling silver chemically aged to a dark, matte, shadowy finish
Patina brass: Raw brass exposed to controlled oxidation — greens, browns, muted golds
Verdigris copper: Turquoise-green crystalline patina on raw copper
Aesthetic: Grounded, earthy, vintage — pairs with raw stones, natural fibers
Care: Do NOT polish with silver cleaner (removes the intentional patina) — full care guide

Oxidized Metal — Questions

Will the patina wear off?

Slowly, over years — and that's part of the design. Oxidized silver naturally brightens at contact points (the inside of a ring, the edges of a clasp) while retaining depth in recessed areas. This creates organic contrast over time. Do not attempt to "restore" shine with polish; the piece is meant to evolve. If it ever reaches a state you don't like, send it back and we'll re-oxidize.

Is verdigris green toxic?

Verdigris is copper carbonate — in large concentrated quantities (historical use in paint pigment) it is mildly toxic. In the small amounts present on jewelry, it's safe for wear. However, some skin types can experience green staining where the piece contacts sweat or humidity. This is cosmetic, washes off, and indicates the metal is authentically raw rather than lacquered.

How should I store oxidized pieces?

Dry, separated from stones that scratch (diamond, quartz), away from direct sunlight. Avoid airtight plastic bags — small amounts of air circulation keep patina stable. A cotton pouch or soft cloth wrap is ideal. Do not use anti-tarnish strips; they'll strip the intentional oxidation.
